October 1, 2001 (Liz's Journal)-- "It's the beginning of Fall, and though sometimes I get strong emotions about something good that will happen, it is the strongest today. Max and I have now been together for over four years, and we still make each other laugh and cry all at the right times. I am just starting to think that maybe it's time to make our love official. I wonder what he thinks about it. Maybe we will always just love each other, and never become one. I don't know, but I hope I am wrong. I will have to see."

Liz stared up at the empty sky. Not a cloud was to be seen that day, but somehow, Liz still liked to look up at it in wonder. She sat on a bench under a nearby oak tree, and watched birds fly overhead. ~I wish Max were with me, so I could share this with him~ Liz sadly thought to herself. Just then, she felt a warm hand on her shoulder. Before she even glanced up, she knew it was Max.

"Hi Liz. Can I join you?" Max asked. Liz shivered within her silken shirt. With her teeth chattering, she looked up at him. "Sure. I was just thinking about our history together." She slowly answered.

"Yeah, we've had a lot of great times together, haven't we? And through it all, we have still managed to hang on to our loving relationship...what a gift that is." Max brought his hand down, to the small of Liz's back, and slowly began massaging it for her. Liz closed her eyes, as the warmth seeped through the silk to her ivory skin.

"Max, I've been thinking. Will we always continue this way, loving each other, and never going to the next step?" A small velvet box was proptly dropped into her lap. She gasped a little as she opened it, to reveal glowing, sparkling white diamonds, on a silver ring. "Oh, Max, it's lovely! Thank you! You don't have to say a word, you know my answer. " With that, she stood up from the old wooden bench, and threw her arms around him.

Then, he pushed her back, far enough for him to gaze into her lovely brown eyes. "Liz Parker, will you marry me?" She answered immediatly by pressing her lips to his neck, and whispering "yes" into the corner of his mouth.

TWO HOURS LATER..................
Liz ran to her house, and picked up the phone to call Maria and Michael, who were rooming together. Maria answered the phone, and said wearily, "Hello?" "Maria! How are you? I have great news!" "Slow down girl, slow down." Maria said, in her usual attitude. "Ok, here it is; Max and I are getting married!"

Liz heard a thump, as Maria fainted as she dropped the phone. "Maria, HELLO?" Liz called into the phone. Michael's voice greeted her. "Hi, Liz. Sorry, Maria's out for a moment or two. What did you say to her anyway?" Michael questioned Liz. "I just told her Max and I were getting married, you would have thought she'd be happy." "Nope, not really. She's been begging ME for weeks, for me to ask her the big question. It's jealousy, Liz, take no offense in your time of happiness." Michael told her.

She laughed. Never had she heard Michael sound that way before. She heard a grunt on the other side of the phone. "Oh, sorry Michael," she said in between her chuckles. "I was just calling to invite you guys to the wedding. It will be in about three weeks; in the hidden chapel behind the Crashdown."

"Ok. When Maria comes back, I will let her know." Michael promised. He hung up the phone, and bent one one knee over Maria. He lightly put his hand on her forehead. It was warm, too warm...he thought. When she did not come to, a few minutes later, Michael took a glass of water, stuck his hand in, and wet her face a little. Maria quickly sat up, realizing what was happenning. "Michael, why the hell did you do that? When your girl faints, the last thing she expects is for her boyfriend to wet her face! A kiss would have been MUCH MORE SUITABLE!" And with that, she smacked him on the cheek, as she got up from the floor.

"Oh, by the way Maria, Liz said we are invited to the wedding. It will be in that old, hidden chapel behind the Crashdown in about three weeks." Maria still couldn't believe what Michael was telling her, and jealousy was burning inside of her. "Michael, why are Liz and Max the only ones in our group, who are getting married?" Maria asked, as she scowled at Michael (hands on hips) "Because they belong together." As soon as he said it, Michael knew he had made a mistake. He felt two cold eyes staring at him, from across the toom.

"Maria, now you know I didn't mean it that way. But, Max and Liz in a way, have known each other longer, and have grown closer. Our love is still new. Do you know what I mean?" He glanced at her, and she now had her arms crossed over her chest.

Michael walked over to her, and drew her to him. "It's not that I don't care, because I do. It's just, I think we need to get to know each other better first, that's all. I want us to have a closer relationship, before we make it permanent. Ok?" Hot tears fell from Maria's eyes, onto Michael's T-Shirt. He sighed, and took her face in his hands. He lightly kissed her lips. No matter how long he stared at her, she grew more lovely by the second.
