Author's Notes: This story changed half way through. I never expected it to turn out the way it did, so it's kinda twisted.
Disclaimer: I abducted Roswell and preformed my experiments on all the people. But they belong to the Jason Katims... well, to be specific, America... but still... OH! The song is "Tears In Heaven" bye Eric Clapton
Feedback: Yeah! I would love it! Please don't flame though, I'm fragile.
Comments: I don’t know when this is set, or even if it is set after an episode. However, Michael and Isabel are still wary of Max and Liz’s relationship.
Distribution: If you want it, take it. All I want is credit and the address to your site.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong
And carry on
'Cos I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

There were people every where he looked. Beautiful gowns swayed against his ankles, and the bright light blinded his eyes. None of it stopped him though, he knew she was here, and he vowed to find her.

Harp music flooded his ears seductively moving against the soft sound of voices. Feather soft skin brushed against him as he slithered his way between the massive throng. Suddenly, he saw her.

She sat alone on a white marble bench staring at the crystal clear pond beside her. The long white gown clinging to her body, the golden blonde halo of hair framing her face. A debate raged within the depths of his mind. Wanting desperately to talk to her, hold her, feel her lips on his. Fearing that her memory was erased from being here, that she wouldn't know him from any of the strangers in this vastly crowded place, not wanting to see the vacant questioning look in her eyes. Wanting won out.

Almost like floating, he wound up behind her. Closing his eyes, and taking a deep breath, he placed a hand on her shoulder. She didn't jump, or move.

"You came. I thought you never would. I've been waiting here patiently for you. I thought you'd never come."

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I'll find my way through night and day
'Cos I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven

Her voice was whispery, like all the others here. He was afraid to talk, knowing his voice wasn't like that.

"How could I stay away forever? I had to come."

She turned to face him now, her large eyes staring into his. Slightly whimsical and vacant looking, but still her eyes.

"I never meant to, you know. I'm sorry."

Running his hand down her feather soft face, he sat down next to her, and held her in his arms. Not to tightly though, she was so fragile and delicate feeling, he might break her.

"Don't apologize. Let's... let's not waste our time apologizing to each other. I can't stay here, I have to leave soon."

"I know, I wish you could, stay here with me forever."

Instantly her small hand covered her mouth and her large eyes grew wider.

"I didn't mean it like that, you know I didn't!"

His lips brushed against her forehead as he tried to calm her.

"I know, I wish you could come back with me."

Slowly, she nodded and her eyes strayed down to the pond.

"How long can you stay?"

His gaze locked in on the wavy reflection.

"Only for a little. I don't have much time, I told you. I wanted my visit to be special.

That's why I didn't come sooner, I wouldn't have survived it."

She looked back at him and smiled softly, leaning her head against his strong shoulder. His hands encircled her waist, and she sighed in understanding.

"I knew. I always knew. I never meant to hurt you like that, it's just, with that whole destiny thing. It was overwhelming. You would never admit to it, how you felt about it. Never leaning one way or the other. Winding up alone. Causing me to be alone. I... I just couldn't deal with it! I mean, Liz could have just said the word and have found happiness again. I'm suprised Max was strong enough to make it, I wouldn't have... I didn't... An-"

His lips closed over hers gently. The kiss was gentle and it asked nothing of any of them. He pulled away first.

"I never meant to do that to you! I thought it was the right thing to do. The whole reason I held you off was because I didn't want to hurt you, and I was too dense to realize that you were slowly dying. I wish... I wish we could turn back everything. I wish we could get you out of here."

She shook her head slowly.

"I belong here now, I'm safe here. Safe for now."

Closing his eyes, he buried his head in her neck. Trying to hold her to him, in a desperate attempt to keep her with him always. Knowing it was over soon.

"I know. I want you to be safe, to be happy. I never want you to hurt. Are you happy here?"

She lifted his head so she could look into her eyes.

"Very, it's what I needed. I needed to let go, to leave it all. Death was my escape. Only in death could I get to Heaven. To happiness. I never actually expected to wind up literally in Heaven."

He bit his lip and tried not to let the tears flow. No tears in Heaven today. Not now, this visit was to be perfect.

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knees
Time can break a heart
Have you begging please Begging please

In the distance, he saw them coming. It was time for him to leave her. For now. She saw them too, and fear crept into her eyes. Her small pale hands clawing desperately into his arms.

"No! Not yet! They can't take you away from me yet! You just got here ... don't leave, please. Don't leave."

Slowly he stood up, trembling, she stood with him. He kissed her softly.

"I love you."

She ran a shaking finger down his jawline.

"I love you too. Visit me again, please. I... I need to see you more. Liz and Alex visit all the time. Even Max and Isabel once in a while. I need you though."

"I promise you. I can come now, now that I actually came, I can come again."

Satisfied, she let her fingers be pried from his, and her arms held firmly, and be led away. He waited until she was gone, then he vanished.

Beyond the door
There's peace I'm sure
And I know
There'll be no more
Tears in heaven

Max sat outside with the car until he saw Michael exit the large white building. He watched slowly as his best friend hoped in the back seat. Liz turned around from the shot gun to see him.

"How was she?"

Michael looked away.

"Beautiful. She looks so out of place there, she doesn't belong there"

"Yes she does. It's the best place, and she's getting the best help possible. Maria's at peace now. She just needs you to come more. Will you?"

Michael said nothing, but he nodded slowly. Max started the car.

"Let's go back home guys. Michael needs to rest."

Slowly, the jeep pulled out of the parking lot. Leaving the huge white building behind. The building with the large gold letters reading:

HEAVEN INSANE ASYLUM

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong and carry on
'Cos I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

The End.
