Summary: There's a new killer in Roswell. How close to Max's family can he be?

“Okay, so what you’re saying is that our Uncle-to-be is evil? I don’t get it. I mean, yeah I got bad vibes from him, but…”
“Isabelle, chill,” Michael cut in before Isabelle went off the wall.
“You’re babbling. Continue, Maxwell.”
“I don’t know. Why would he be against us?” Max asked. Liz was starting to get worried Alex and Maria had blank faces and they didn’t stop staring at Liz’s shirt. Her shirt had been burned when Max’s soon-to-be Uncle Carl set fire to it. Max had managed to put it out and heal the burn on her arm, but there was still a hole in it. Liz turned to Isabelle who was clearly freaking out over this whole matter. “If he was going to hurt anyone in our family, he would have done it right then and there, so obviously, he wants us to be hurt.” Max continued.
“Well at least we know Liz, Maria and Alex will be safe.” Michael said.
“Michael don’t you remember what he did to Liz’s arm. He almost killed her.” Isabelle exclaimed.
“Isabelle stop it!” Max yelled putting up both of his hands for silence. Maria and Alex finally had turned their gaze to Max.
“All I know is that it definitely wasn’t the guy that hurt me that night on the street.” Liz said standing up and starting to leave. Max grabbed her arm to stop her but when she walked away from him he let go and didn’t followed her. She couldn’t take the yelling.
She opened Michael’s front door and went outside. Everything was so loud. She started to walk down the hall and to her car, when she heard a noise in the bushes. She whipped around and saw a man standing in them. “Who are you?” she asked, unsuccessfully, trying to hide the fear in her voice. “Don’t be afraid, Miss. Parker.” The man said. “I just want to warn you of him. He is more dangerous than you think.” He raised his hand and Liz felt this sudden sense of pleasure. She felt safe and secure for the first time since she was shot that day in the Crashdown when Max saved her. She felt so at peace, almost like she was flying. “Please know that I will help you.” The man said, but to Liz she didn’t care. She loved the feeling of security she was getting. Then it slowly faded and Liz saw the man lower his hand and she realized that he had been giving her that sense of protection. “You can have that feeling with any of us. As long as you truly trust us and we won’t have to use our power to let you feel it.” The man turned around and went to leave.
“Wait!” Liz exclaimed. She didn’t want him to leave. She felt protected near him.
“Remember, all you have to do is trust us.” He said and left.
Max climbed onto Liz’s balcony. She had left in such a hurry that he was worried about her. When she saw him she smiled. “Hi, Max.” She said, putting down her notebook. “Sorry I left like that. It was just that everything was so…” Max put his fingers on her lips causing her words to trail off. He moved his head closer to hers and leaned in for a kiss. She took the hint and wrapped her arms around his back and pulled her closer to him. This kiss was different. All the other kisses they shared weren’t this passionate. She leaned back on her lounge chair and pulled her on top of him. He loved this. She rubbed her hands on his back inviting him to do the same. He moved his hands under her shirt and ran his fingers down the small of her back. She moved her hands to the front of his shirt letting out a long breath as Max moved his lips to her neck. A loud crash broke their kiss as Max and Liz jumped down the stairs to see what was happening. When they got there Liz found her father lying on the floor with blood coming out of the back of his head. “Oh my God.” Liz rushed over to her father and tried to feel a pulse. Max ran out the front door, which was left open. He saw someone running to his left and Max took off after him.
“Hey!” Max yelled after him. When he thought he was close enough to touch the guy, Max jumped at him. The guy saw this coming and he leapt up, causing Max to fall face first on the ground. Max did however get a scrap of the man’s shirt. He might be able to connect to it and get and image of the man’s whereabouts or something. Max hoped so, because he owed Liz something. Max got up, and reached up to touch his forehead. When he lowered his hand he looked at the blood on it. ‘Great,’ he thought, ‘Liz is gonna have a cow.’ When he got back to Liz’s house he shut the door and went straight over to Liz’s father. He bent down and connected with him. Using his power he moved the molecules of his blood vessels back together until they were one. He lifted his hand and waited for Liz’s father to come back to conciseness. Liz saw her father pull his hand up to his head and sit up. She was so relieved to see that he was okay. She smiled up at Max as her father said, “what happened?” Liz’s smile turned into a worried face. She thought for sure that Max would have to tell Liz’s father. Max just smiled at her and said to her father, “Someone came in here and hit you over the head. I tried to go after him but I couldn’t.”
“Ahh, yes, now I remember.” Her father said.
“Daddy, do you know who it was?” Liz asked. “No sorry, honey, but I didn’t get a good enough look at him. I must have blanked out when he hit me.”
“Well, now you’re fine. Why don’t you go upstairs to your room and get some sleep.” Max suggested, trying to make a good impression on him. Liz smiled. Liz’s father nodded as he made his way upstairs. “Now, where were we?” Max asked as he leaned in for a kiss. Liz quickly put her hand up. “Why don’t we do this in my bedroom?” She said as she got up from the floor. She didn’t want to take the chance of her father coming out here and catching them. Then she saw the blood on Max’s face. “Max, what happened to your face!?” She asked.
“Nothing.” He replied, as he wiped the blood from his forehead. Liz realized that he must have fallen down when he went out the front door after whoever hurt her father. She felt a little anger build up inside her but let it go. He was trying to help.
“Okay, so we know that our Uncle-to-be is an evil alien. What are we supposed to do?” Isabelle asked.
“I don’t know.” Max answered. It was just the three of them, Isabelle, Michael and him. No Tess. This was good. He knew Tess would just be a distraction.
“We could kill him.” Michael suggested.
“No” Max and Isabelle said together. “We can’t kill him. We would get into a lot of trouble with the cops if we did. He is a well-known businessman, so it’s not like we can say he’s missing. They’ll make a big deal out of his disappearance. We would be uncovered.” Max said.
“Then what do we do? Let him hurt whoever he wants to.” Michael argued.
“If he wanted to hurt someone he would have already done it.” Isabelle said.
“Yeah, Is, that’s just like you. Side with Max all the time.” Michael got up and left the room. Max lowered his head into his hands and he heard Isabelle sigh.
Liz heard a sound out on her balcony. She put down her notebook and saw Max standing at her window. She smiled at him. She couldn’t believe he was back. She got up and walked over to her window and unlocked it. She stepped back as he opened the window. When he crawled inside she said, “What are you doing here, Max? I thought you had to go home early tonight.” As he took her hand he said, “I want to show you something.” Max led Liz out her window and onto her balcony. He pointed up to the sky, and as he did this, he said, “Look. Aren’t they beautiful tonight?” “Yes.” Liz replied. There was something different though. Not about the stars he was showing her but about him. She turned around and saw start to change. She let out and scream as his hand shot up to cover her mouth. “Shut up, you little brat!” He said. Liz couldn’t believe it. She saw Carl and realized that he had changed form to trick her. He grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the ladder that led down to the street. She tried to get away, but she couldn’t. He loosened his grip a little from all the squirming Liz was doing. She took that chance to run. She took off and she felt him grab her hair as she fell backwards. She thought he pulled some of her hair back. He reached down and pulled her up. “I am not stupid, you lame excuse for a human.” He said and he slapped her cheek as Liz tumbled to the ground once again. When she got up she saw blood on the ground. She took her finger and drew a c and an e in it. He grabbed her and threw her toward the edge. Liz knew she wasn’t getting out of it, but she thought the c.e. she put would help.
